Due to the highly publicized situation around the College of Geodesy and Cartography in Semey. What is so important about this College building for teachers and students?

• In the 1970s, Main Directorate of Geodesy and Cartography under the USSR Cabinet has approved a unified standard building design for topographic technical colleges in the USSR, of which there were 9. The buildings of these technical colleges have been designed and developed specifically for the teaching and learning activities.
• Availability of a basement with special rooms for the installation of stereoplotting equipment with Zeiss optics, weighing between 400 and 800 kg, was compulsory for these technical colleges. A concrete bedding was poured underneath to eliminate vibration loads. These instruments were adjusted during installation and could not be dismantled. And there are dozens of such devices at the college.
• The transfer of this equipment for the teaching and learning activities cannot be performed under present-day conditions. Since there are currently no specialists in the country who can dismantle and reassemble in a new location. The appliances simply will not survive the move to another building.
• The working with such equipment should never be excluded from the training process, as it is one of the foundations of the applied science of photogrammetry. College has all the necessary conditions for gaining basic practical knowledge and skills, there is also a surveying site near the College. (Photograph No.4)
• Last year, College has celebrated its 75th anniversary, and during this period has created all the conditions for educational processes and the training of qualified professionals.

To deprive the College of a building is akin to deprive the surveying and mapping industry of technically competent and skilled professionals.
